{"id":5333,"date":"2023-11-06T12:47:44","date_gmt":"2023-11-06T12:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theatre.local\/the-international-institute-of-community-commissioned-art-iicca-invites-artists-to-submit-ideas-for-a-work-of-art-in-kuldiga-latvia\/"},"modified":"2023-11-06T12:47:44","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T12:47:44","slug":"the-international-institute-of-community-commissioned-art-iicca-invites-artists-to-submit-ideas-for-a-work-of-art-in-kuldiga-latvia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theatre.kondrats.dev\/lv\/the-international-institute-of-community-commissioned-art-iicca-invites-artists-to-submit-ideas-for-a-work-of-art-in-kuldiga-latvia\/","title":{"rendered":"The International Institute of Community Commissioned Art (IICCA) invites artists to submit ideas for a work of art in Kuld\u012bga, Latvia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iicca.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The International Institute of Community Commissioned Art <\/a>(IICCA), in cooperation with the New Theatre Institute of Latvia (LV), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bethlenszinhaz.hu\/english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BETHLEN THEATER<\/a> (Bethlen) \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/proprogressione.com\/en\/pro-progressione\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pro-Progressione<\/a> (HU) and <a href=\"https:\/\/arttransparent.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Art Transparent<\/a> (PL) is looking for innovative ideas for contemporary work that could be implemented in Kuld\u012bga (Latvia) in 2024 and invites artists to submit their applications until December 4, 2023 (deadline extended until December 11).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The idea of the artwork must be developed especially for Kuld\u012bga, aiming to bring more light into the everyday life of the city, and inspire the residents to find and create joy for themselves and those around them. The work must be created for and\/or with one or more local communities. The artist or association of artists can work in any of the art genres \u2013 visual, audiovisual, multimedia, performing arts or interdisciplinary. The presentation of the artwork will take place at the beginning of September 2024 during the International Festival of Contemporary Theatre <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Homo Novus<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Proceedings of the Open Call<\/b><b>:<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; The applications must be sent to the organizers by December 4, 2023 (deadline extended until December 11)<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; The first round of selection will take place until 08.01.2024, when three Community art commissioners from Kuld\u012bga will choose the 3 most appropriate idea applications. Three authors will each receive a 1000 EUR grant for pitching their idea in the second round of contest<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; During the second round, following the pitching session, art commissioners will choose one idea, and one author will be awarded 12,000 EUR for the implementation of the art-work<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; The work implementation period will last 6 months, starting from 19.02.2024. until the opening at the festival in early September<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; The author will be provided with technical support during the festival, publicity, support and advice from art commissioners and opportunity to work with local community and art professionals<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>We are looking for:<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Professional artists or collectives form Latvia or Europe with a minimum of 3 years practice <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">good knowledge of Latvian or English language<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Innovative ideas and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">interest to make a piece of work for the Kuld\u012bga community<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Ideas that can be developed and implemented within 6 months<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; All contemporary art-forms are eligible<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Artwork ideas that can appeal to every resident of Kuld\u012bga, regardless of their gender, age or other factors<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Artists who are interested and willing to work in Kuld\u012bga and who are open to working in a team, cooperating with three local art commissions<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0Selection criteria:<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Proven experience of delivering projects in this capacity<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Innovativeness of artwork in the context of Kuld\u012bga<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Demonstrated plan showing sustainable impact of the work in the community of Kuld\u012bga<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; A well researched plan that includes community consultation<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Involvement of diverse groups of residents of Kuld\u012bga (all humans, non-humans and the local mandarin duck)<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Astrological and intuitive compatibility<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>You are welcome to submit applications until December 4, 2023 <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(deadline extended until <strong>December 11<\/strong>)<\/span>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The application form is available <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdDLKbgEM5-vK4fhEE4mYOPYaFeA9voru4ut6tJCsiR_BUq1w\/viewform\">APPLICATION FORM<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More information about the project is available at iicca.org or by writing an e-mail to santa@theatre.lv<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IICCA is part of the DemArt project: DemArt &#8211; Democratising art commissioning by involving local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DemArt and IICCA is funded by the European Union.
