Latvian dramaturg J\u0101nis Balodis will take part\u00a0in\u00a0the summer lab Toxic Tour taking place on August 29-31 in Ljubljana as part of the activities by the network Imagine 2020: Art, Ecology and Possible Futures.\u00a0Together with an international group of artists, researchers and activists, J\u0101nis\u00a0will engage in 3 days of presentations, discussions and field trips, starting from the Botanical Gardens, venturing across the Ljubljana Marshes and to the Planina Cave.\u00a0The aim of\u00a0 Toxic Tour is to educate attendees while also encouraging them for\u00a0collaborative imagining of solutions and active intervening into a situation of pollution.<\/p>\n

Theatre director Viesturs Meik\u0161\u0101ns\u00a0will join the residence project Watch and Talk in Theaterfestival Basel from August 30 till September 11. The residence artists will watch festival productions, meet with creators and\u00a0discuss their experiences. Watch and Talk aims to give participants the\u00a0opportunity \u00a0to discover other artistic work and and engage in critical discussions while also looking at their own artistic practice and their own cultural background through the practices and the corresponding views developed by other participants.<\/p>\n

The participation of artists in these projects is made possible through the international activities\u00a0of New Theatre Institute of Latvia – engagement in the network Imagine 2020: Art, ecology and Possible Futures, as well as collaboration with Theaterfestival Basel\u00a0in Switzerland.<\/p>\n
